I remember as a kid being told here or there to "Remember who you are". It always seemed like a weird thing to say, I didn't get it...

I wrote this a few years ago, and I still love reading it when I forget and feel down on myself. I decided to share it with you. I hope it rings true to you as much as it has to me. )hugs!(
I remember as a kid being told here or there to "Remember who you are". It always seemed like a weird thing o say, I didn't get it... I mean I knew what it was supposed to mean: "be a good person, remember you are God's, don't let others influence what you do...yada yada yada...".
“ I didn't know who I was then, not really anyways. Those words are only powerful if you know who you are”
It wasn't until today that God clarified it for me. I didn't know who I was then, not really anyways. Those words are only powerful if you know who you are, like today. Today I was feeling like such a failure. I felt like I couldn't do anything right, and that I would always struggle and hurt people as a result.
Guys I was SO sucked into these lies about me. I was drowning fast and hard and nothing I was trying seemed to help. Finally, God pulled me out. And all it took was four simple words: Remember who you are.
“ I was drowning fast and hard and nothing I was trying seemed to help. Finally, God pulled me out.”
From those four words came: I love myself. I have worth. I am capable. I am strong. I am kind. I am filled with grace. I believe. I trust. I love others. I know what is right for me. I know God and trust Him to lead me where I need to go. And with that all the lies, the soul crushing anxiety, worthlessness, just slipped away, replaced by truth. That is the power of truth.
So what would I have said to my younger self now? Remember who you want to be. For by doing that, one day you'll remember who you already are.
